The road to publication is a lonely one, and sometimes the up-hill struggles can be steep and the down-hill slopes a breeze. It’s a journey that only you can take, and it needs a strong will and perseverance to make it to the end. Many people fail to make it and fall off the path before they’re even half way along.
But this doesn’t have to be the way.
By surrounding yourself with others walking along the same road, the journey can become easier. That’s what the North Herts Writers do. We’re a small, informal group of friendly writers who offer each other the support needed in order to make it to the end goal, whether that be self-publishing or going the traditional route.
We offer critique on any level, from plot holes to spelling; we brainstorm ideas if you’re struggling, and help you through your tough times. If you have weak points we’ll help you strengthen them, and we’ll inspire you to achieve what may feel like the unachievable - finishing that novel.
Writers often like solitude in order to find themselves in the zone and put finger to keyboard, but too much solitude is never healthy and can actually stint productivity. It’s surprising the impact a few hours a week spent with other writers can have on your writing, and many people who are members of a writers’ circle feel these groups are a must in their lives.
The North Herts Writers meet every Monday, from 7pm – 9pm, at the Cromwell Hotel in Stevenage Old Town. There’s no fee and food and drink are available from behind the bar.
